What’s on offer?

Join us in this amazing region of Italy to discover the secrets of the Sibillini Mountains.  Pierluigi Tomassetti is an experienced, Italian walking guide, who also speaks English and is fully insured, offers  excursions from €15.00 pp per walk.  (No minimum amount of walkers required for excursions).

The Sibillini Mountains are still very much unspoilt and untouched by the ravages of mass tourism and there are many excursions available for beginners as well as the experienced walkers. Pierluigi has put together the following itineraries to cover several different aspects of the National Park and other areas of interest in the Marche Region.  You could also let us know if there are specific areas that you would like to see.

Our selected walks

 Gola di infernaccio

This excursion is approx 3-4 hrs. The Gola di infernaccio is found just outside Amandola and the highest point of the walk is 1180 metres. Apart from the spectacular walk there is a pathway which will take you will see a hermitage built by hand over 30 years by Padre Pietro who lives there still.

 Cascatelle Excursion

This is 1 km from Sarnano it is a 5 minute walk on a simple pathway were you will arrive at the foot of a very interesting waterfall. At the front is an ancient watermill which has been renovated into a house.
Those who would like to take a closer look at the river can follow the trail alongside. It is also possible to go up and look down on the waterfall.

 Eremo di Soffia Excursion

This very easy excursion takes approx 1hr. There is a short pathway which takes you to visit an ancient retreat, where in the past monks lived and prayed in this very lonely place where silence is real silence.

 Grotta dei Frati

After descending from the Fiastrone Canyon you climb up the opposite slope to reach the Monastery. It is also possible to join together with the excursion to the Gole del Fiastrone.

 Lame rosse

The walk is approx 2 hrs, it starts at an altitude of 646 meters and ends at 746 (+100) meters.

 Percorso carbonaie

This excursion takes 60 minutes. You will follow a trail were there are notices that explain the different stages of how they used to obtain charcoal from wood, showing you real examples along the way. At the end of the walk you can visit a modern working charcoal factory.

 Rio sacro

The altitude at the start is 773 meters, after 20 minutes you will reach the lower part of the path with an altitude of 713 meters (-60), the excursion ends at approx altitude of 838 meters (+65) after 1 hour.

 Rio terro

This excursion is approx 2 hour long, you will be guided through an unknown valley of the Sibillini with a beautiful waterfall at the end. The narrow valley is very interestingand allows you to see rare kind of trees and how the water forms the rock creating a canyon.

 Rio vallone

The excursion is approx 90 minutes long and is very easy. In fact Rio Vallone is a learning room where children are often taken. Along the path there are several notices explaining the animals, trees, flowers etc. You can choose to carry on walking further where you will arrive at a beautiful waterfall.

 Aquacantina Excursion

The excursion is to a canyon called "Valle dell ’Acquasanta". In the past people used it as a refrigerator
as the canyon is so isolated and hidden that it sun never shone on it. So using snow and straw it was
possible to simulate a natural refrigerator where to preserve food and materials.

 Monte ascensione

The walk starts at the village of Rotella on an isolated mountain which is quiet unique.
Whilst walking you will see different vegetation as the altitude changes.

 Monte Conero

This is near Ancona and is unique to the Adriatic coast because the mountain is on the edge of the sea.
It is very important for the birds migrating who use it as resting point, and also for the very large variety
of vegetation. One of the most beautiful excursions in Marche is going to visit the "Due Sorelle" a rock formation close to the beach at Portonovo.  The start point is the village Sirolo.
