Accommodation & Vacations Marche, ItalyGradually this amazing and unspoilt Marche Region of Italy is being discovered and constantly written about by the growing number of journalists. The tourist board of Le Marche is promoting itself as the whole of Italy in one region - there is so much to see and do here.

Anyone looking for a different kind of holiday in Italy will certainly not be disappointed, without having to experience the crowds of Florence, Venice or Rome - our culture comes in easier bites, and we have everything from Caves and Grottos to churches complete with fabulous art and frescoes, and even Napoleonic forts, castles, monasteries and hilltop towns.

You’ll find these towns scattered around the stunning countryside, and our local San Ginesio has been described as ’Un piccolo borgo delizioso’ - a delicious little place. The walls of San Ginesio date back to the 1400’s and access is through one of the four arched gates, which give a sneak preview of what lays behind. There are several festivals and none more colourful than the Battle of Fornarina (31st July) and the Pallio (14th and 15th August). If you are lucky enough to visit Marche at this time, you will be treated to a procession of the locals in medieval garb, rousing music and a re-enactment of the battle (where the baker’s girl raised the alarm to alert the town to the marauding soldiers of Fermo about to attack, and thereby saving San Ginesio), or the Pallio which involves jousting and of course, feasting in the Piazza.

Nearby Sarnano is situated at the foot of the Sibillini Mountains and ’Centro Storico’ is set on the round and has been sympathetically restored - the two churches in the highest Piazza have incredible views of Sassotetto, where the ski resort is in full swing between January and March. The Sibillini National Park provides stunning scenery and changes through the seasons, giving shelter to wildlife which includes Bear, Wild Boar, Buzzards and even Porcupines, to name but a few. There are mountain streams of the clearest water which in turn feed Lago di Fiastra - heavenly oasis - and which should be included on any itinerary during your vacation.

Accommodation in Le Marche is plentiful and you can stay in a small osteria, bed and breakfast or if you prefer a Napoleonic Fort. Our own humble farmhouse is one of many restored homes, but the very best of a break here is the pleasure of experiencing ’Slow Food’. The produce here is all locally reared or grown and always seasonal. There’s no going to the supermarket for out of season vegetables, they just don’t happen, which is why the menu at Villa Sibillini changes daily according to availability. This is an ideal holiday for those who love food, and the many local restaurants provide something for everyone, from the smallest pizzeria to wonderful fish restaurants, and the little family-run agriturismos where you’ll find wild boar and home-grown produce. Its here that you’ll be forced to try their home-made liquers and vino cotto, which will surely give you such a good night’s sleep - goodness knows what the alcohol content is.

All in all Le Marche provides a vacation for everyone - if you need a stress free, calm and quiet break without a sound to break your slumber and the opportunity to discover the region for yourself - this surely is the place for you.  Perhaps you’d like to try something more strenuous like climbing or skiing, even latin lessons at an open air club. Its our greatest pleasure to share this place with our visitors and we can show you the sights, organise Reiki and pampering, designer shopping or send you to one of the many local restaurants.  Or you could just sit on our terrace overlooking the Sibillini National Park, drink in hand and watch the birds of prey teaching their young to fly, whilst sampling our house antipasta.

What’s stoppng you? Book and flight and discover Marche before everyone else!   Oh and don’t forget your phrase book as there is little English spoken here.  However it’s always a delight to order when you don’t know just what will arrive on your plate!  Not for the feint hearted though.
