Our holiday in the Villa Sibillini was one of those that we can only than Pam and David. First of all for making us feel so welcome, and the icing on the cake was our upgrade to the ‘honeymoon suite’ (maybe a few years too late, but nevertheless lovely!). Marche: Villa Sibillini: "Beautiful, Intelligent Hospitality"

The warmth we experienced in Italy was only exceeded by the warmth of Pamela and David Bates and their delightful family. After two weeks of blistering city heat, we arrived in the mountains of Le Marche and wended our way to the Sibillini. No sooner had we pulled in then David placed a tall, cool beer before my husband while my 14 and 20 year-old sons and I changed for a dip in the delightful pool. Our rooms were cool, clean, and comfortable, but the best place of all was around the pool. Pamela brought us drinks and snacks while we swam, read, spoke to the lovely Dutch couple also staying for the week, and sunned ourselves senseless. The views and rural ambience were magnificent, although Pamela and her lovely daughter brought us to a shoe outlet in nearby Tolentino--many places to shop if that’s your bliss.
We ate gourmet food at Sibillini, as well, much of it prepared from nuts, vegetables, and fruits grown right on the Bates’ property. The cuisine was gourmet and served al fresco. Beneath starry skies and beside ancient expanses of well-tilled fields, we ate succulent meals, drank tasty local wines, and rested our tourist-tired bones. Pamela and her daughter, George, were delightful hostesses, and they humored us when we begged to hear how they had left the gray routine of England for the salubrious sun of Italy.
Before our departure (I honestly wanted to cry), we bought as many jars of Pamela’s mother’s homemade fig jam as we could. This is a place I would and will (God willing) return to. My 20 year-old who initially expressed disappointment that we would be "in the country," ended by joking that this stop had been HIS best idea yet. It would be anyone’s best idea. We have had the pleasure of staying at the villa a few times now and always felt very relaxed and well taken care of. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely furnished and the bathrooms have great reviving showers. We love the region and villa siblillini is well placed to enable you to explore san genesio, visit tolentino and macerata or easily get to the coast or mountains. If you want good value, lovely surroundings and serenity then this is for you.

The wedding date was fast approaching and I couldn’t put the hen weekend off any longer. After searching the net for many hours and just finding the same thing I was about to give up. I really did not want a night consisting of L plates, strippers and not being allowed home unless I was completely legless! Then I found a website offering a weekend in a villa in Italy with shopping trips and beauty treatments. It sounded perfect. I made contact directly and Pam and David Bates, an English couple who own the villa, and they immediately put my mind at ease. At last I was finally looking forward to my hen weekend. There were seven of us who went including the two mums and a fabulous weekend was had by all. The warm welcome that we received from the Bates family was amazing; they made us feel completely at home. The son and daughter kindly gave us lifts to the local town on the Friday evening and Pam helped us on our shopping trip the next day. The villa was beautiful, the food lovely, the beauty treatments great and the hospitality will never be forgotten. We all can’t wait to return.

We would like to thank all the Bates family for their hospitality during our 5 day stay at Villa Sibillini. We had a fantastic time discovering The Marches, Villa Sibillini was a great base to have a good look around the area from the beautiful mountains to the sea. The restaurants and places of interest (i.e. the lakes in the Sibillini mountains) were second to none and we would never have discovered them only for their recommendations.

My friend and I travel all over the World, staying in 5 star hotels, B & Bs and anywhere a bit different. Our stay at Villa Sibillini Country House this month was a delight. The Marche region was fabulous, we saw the Duomo in Ancona, had tea in a Napoleonic fort, enjoyed a trip around Lake Fiastra set in the middle of the most amazing mountains, and we wandered around the local medieval towns.

We were treated as long lost friends and even invited to join the family for the most splendid dinner with the Mayor of San Ginesio and a journalist from the New York Post who was also staying at Villa Sibillini. The courses just kept coming - 6 different antipasta to include the most delicious rosemary and parmesan shortbreads, risotto with an orange sauce, a campari and orange granita, followed by fillet of beef with red wine sauce before completely indulging in panetone bread and butter pudding with amaretto.

The family are warm and very hospitable, the rooms lovely and the garden a beautiful place to sit and stare at the mountains. We slept really well - which could have had something to do with the wine, and it was honestly the most relaxing break we have experienced. Pat and I can’t wait to go back - there’s so much more to discover. We would thoroughly recommend this country house and also the area which is truly stunning.

Really comfortable beds, great value at €75 euros for the night including a wonderful breakfast. As for the local area its really superb, lots of culture around as well.
